about
For this performance, resident artist Enkhbold Togmidshiirev will present a multi-media installation in the MoT+++ exhibition space featuring a Mongolian Ger (traditional tent) made by the artist using bamboo (a material never before used in Mongolia for this purpose) accompanied by a soundscape evoking the Gobi Desert at night. Enkhboldis one of Mongolia’s leading contemporary artists and has represented his country at the 56th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, in 2015, marking Mongolia’s first participation at the Biennale. His practice draws inspiration on the traditional Mongolian nomadic life and uses the Ger (a portable hut) as a metaphor for the universe. Organic materials such as horse dung, ash, rust, leather and wood are often found in his installations, referencing humans’ relationship with nature. Saturday, May 19
